Sturbridge and The Fat Tire classic

Bike racing is hard. Sturbridge proved that fact to me, this Saturday. The climb out of town, broke the field apart, while I was daydreaming in rear portion of the pack. I tried to chase on the second lap with others, only to be completely gassed at the bottom of the final climb. I demonstrated poor race craft and poor climbing, I punished my transgressions by chasing hard. Another lesson learned.

Lynn's race proved this prevailing thought " I'd rather careen down a rocky trail, than descend a steep mountain road in in the middle of the pack" She finished, it was hard, enough said.

Lynn also raced the Fat Tire classic in C.T. on Sunday. This is the same venue that the Chain Bitter cyclo-cross was held on. This race utilized much of the same terrain. The field was full and she had some competition, truly earning her second place finish on tired legs. A hard fast race, ending with a second place finish is somehow more gratifying than a runaway victory. She got this very cool prize!

Lyons and Judge spent alot of time in their Volvo this weekend. This close, together, time proved to be too much, Sunday afternoon. I return to the car to check on them, when I received the report. It seems that the nice people parked next to us were quite concerned, they had witnessed a knock down brawl, in the classic Irish tradition. The boys have since shared a pint and made up.

Dog Tired

Lynn scored the second win for Millwork One! She won her class (4Th woman over all)at the Winstead Woods mountain bike race today, she also retains her leaders jersey!

I raced the Rick Newhouse crit. on Saturday. It was not my best race day. I crashed out my good friend Joe B. removing two spokes from his front wheel, finishing the cat 4 in a disappointing 12Th place, . I did not finish the 35+ masters race due to a digestive( or lack of it) issue. At least I learned a new lesson, eating scrambled eggs, toast, home fries and coffee, 1 hour prior to a really hard race, is not a good idea. Lynn put it all in perspective, at least I wasn't hungry anymore!

Lyons and Judge are dog tired!

race reports for Hop Brook and Chris Hinds

Yes! Lynn scored the first win ever, for M1 racing! Lyons is modeling her medal and leader's jersey! She will try to defend the jersey in CT, this Sunday! Wish her luck!

I placed 7th in the cat 4 race at Chris Hinds. I will be racing Rick Newhouse on Saturday, with back to back races, 35+ then cat4.

Lyons and Judge are enjoying watching the humans race around in circles. Word has it, they are taking side bets.

wells report, training update, race plans

Scott, Nathan, Joe and my self trundled up to wells ave on Sunday. Meeting up with Brendan H. The weather seemed warm as I walked the dogs earlier in the morning. Once we arrived at wells it was raw, damp and chilly. I was under orders to refrain from racing as I required an emergency rest week per Mr Apples. My plan was to hide in the pack and try to have a nice even tempo style work out. So according to plan, I "sat in" which is kind of boring, but my good friend Joe B had the same plan, so we kept our each other company.

Today after work I went out to the reservoir and completed this work out; 2.5 hours. 4x6 minute efforts high zone 3. 4 minute rest between. The weather was great, I felt strong, It's so fun to go fast.

Lynn has been loving her Orbea, riding in the woods every chance she gets. Her first race of the season will be offroad, this Saturday, the Hop Brook Dam. Then she plans to race Chris Hinds in the afternoon!

I will be racing Chris Hinds Saturday, cat4 in the morning and the 35 plus in the afternoon. I'm also planning on wells ave on Sunday.

Team Sam plans on racing rain or shine, so should you!
